Areas of Practice
Controlled drugs and substance charges
Most charges for drug possession and/or trafficking are the result of a police search. I will go over the police disclosure and advise you whether there is a challenge to the lawfulness of the search, with the goal of having any unlawfully obtained evidence excluded at trial, and a resulting acquittal.
Property crime.
Whether it be theft or damage to property, I will take your case.
Civil forfeiture
Police can seize your property, and send it to the Director of Civil Forfeiture where it will be subject to forfeiture proceedings without the necessity of a conviction, or even a criminal charge. I will first work towards a resolution whereby you will receive your property back. If we are unable to come to a resolution, I will fight for your rights in a trial where the State must prove that the property is proceeds or instrument of criminal activity.
sexual offences
being convicted of a sexual offence means you will be placed on the sexual offenders registry. This can change your life drastically and affect your chances of employment or volunteer opportunities. I will do everything possible to keep you off the registry, whether it be an acquittal at trial or through negotiations with crown counsel.

Fisheries offences
I am experienced in fisheries law, and will advocate on your behalf using my knowledge of all areas of commercial and sport fishing on the BC Coast. I have lectured in fisheries law at the UBC Indigenous Legal Clinic.
